BEAUTY TALK: fresh face
Recently I have been getting a lot of questions regarding my skin care. And while I am super lucky in terms of impurities and break-outs, my skin is still far from perfect. Due to the fact that I have eczema, I have super dry skin (it gets better during summer). Back in February I had an appointment with my dermatologist and she suggested trying a moisturizing urea lotion from the pharmacy. Now, admittedly it isn’t the prettiest bottle and it doesn’t smell wonderful (no scent at all actually) or sound very appealing, but it has worked wonders for my skin and gives it the perfect amount of necessary moisture. So currently, my skin care routine is very basic, but it seems to work well and I don’t plan on changing it anytime soon!
In the mornings, I wash my face with nothing but water and then apply the lotion from the pharmacy before doing my make-up. For my daily routine I use Kiehl’s BB Cream and MAC’s mineralize skin finish. That is all! No magic 🙂 When my eyes are tired looking (usually every day …) I add a bit of the MAC mineralize concealer for a more awake look.
For nighttime I wash my face with Origins GinZing Facial Scrub, which is simply heavenly! Pure summer on my face and an amazing smell of oranges (I think?) – it has a very gentle peeling and leaves my skin squeaky clean. Then, after gently drying the skin I also apply the lotion from the pharmacy and drink a cup of water before going to bed. About twice a week I also use the “Exfoliant Lissant Express” peeling by Eisenberg, which makes my skin SUPER smooth – I like the results even more the next morning, when you literally wake up with a fresh looking face.
Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion that my skin is simply too sensitive to try lots of different things. I’ve experimented with A LOT of options, especially for sensitive skin, but for now I’ll be sticking to this routine for as long as possible. It has really helped me over the past 6 months and I am so happy with the way my skin currently feels and looks.
**And because some of you asked on Instagram: I had a prescription from my doctor for the cream/lotion from the pharmacy, but not sure if it is always necessary as it doesn’t really contain anything too special or out of the ordinary (as far as I can tell – but I am not a doctor). In any case, if you’re having problems with your skin, I would always recommend visiting a good dermatologist to get his/her opinion on things. It can do wonders!

I feel like keeping scincare to a basic is better for my skin anways.
I have rather dry skin so I might wanna try that one out as well.
Thanks for suggesting 🙂

Vicky
Vicky did you know the Studio Fix fluid foundation will actually dry your skin out even more? I used to use it too (and loved it!!) until I moved back to Vienna and my skin became a lot more dry (it tends to be really oily when I’m in Portugal). It dried my skin out so much that it started flaking…then I started using the Mineralize foundation and love it!!!

Hi Rosie,
I am not sure where you got the “studio fix fluid foundation” idea from 🙂 I don’ (and have never) used fluid foundation for that exact reason – I only use the BB Cream by Kiehl’s and then use the Mineralize Skin Finish pressed powder, which is super light and works well for my skin. But you are absolutely right, heavy foundation like the Studio Fix will definitely dry out your skin a lot!

Whoops, totally just saw that I wrote “mineralize studio fix” in the text. Absolutely wrong 🙁 It was supposed to be “skin finish” – I always mix the two up.
That’s ok!! I thought it was weird that you were writing that =) I’m actually going to get the Mineralize Powder from MAC as well, it’s so lightweight and natural =D
